Satyendra Jain, a jailed former minister for Delhi and AAP politician, was sent to Safdarjung Hospital after
he complained of a decline in his health. More information is awaited.
Former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain filed a petition with the Supreme Court on May 15 asking for bail in
a case involving alleged money laundering. In the money laundering case against him, the Delhi High
Court’s decision to deny his bail application has been contested by him.
The Delhi High Court rejected Satyendra Jain’s bail request on April 6. In rejecting Satyendra Jain’s
request for bail, the HC noted that the petitioner is powerful and might tamper with the evidence. At
this point, it is impossible to hold Satyender Jain/the applicant accountable for fulfilling the two
requirements of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
On March 21, following the conclusion of the submissions made by the defence and prosecution parties
following numerous hearings, the HC had reserved the order. The Enforcement Directorate’s Additional
Solicitor General (ASG), SV Raju, testified at the hearing that money laundering charges against Jain and
the other co-accused are unmistakable.
Mr. Jain claimed in his bail request that he had appeared before the ED seven times. I’ve helped out and
taken part in the investigation. After 5 years, in 2022, I was detained.
The trial court dismissed Satyendra Jain’s bail motion on November 17, 2022. He was detained by the
court in this matter after being apprehended on May 30, 2022, in accordance with the Prevention of
Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) accusation that Satyender Jain allegedly acquired movable
property between February 14, 2015, and May 31, 2017, and could not provide a satisfactory
justification for it is the basis for the ED case.
