7th July ,the most awaited day for every cricket fan in India , as it is our ‘Captain Cool’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s birthday. Dhoni turns 42 this year, and millions of well wishes from teammates , and fans from across the world it had turned into a celebration across the cricketing community and beyond.
Hyderabad ,Nandigama and Andhra Pradesh showcased Dhoni cut-outs Standing at an impressive height of 52 feet, wearing the Indian jersey, and the towering 77-foot cut-out features him in the training kit of CSK (Chennai Super Kings) respectively on his birthday. The journey of the struggling cricketer from being a ticket collector to the only captain in cricket history is portrayed in various ways on social media as his birthday approaches closer .
He is the only captain to win all three ICC trophies, the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, ICC T20 World Cup (2007), and ICC ODI World Cup (2011) , with remarkable achievements throughout his journey making Indian team the world No. 1 Test team for the first time in 2009 . Although he gave up the T20I and ODI captaincy in January 2017 still has the most wins by an India captain in both the white-ball formats.The only time he played for a different team (Rising Pune Supergiants), was during the bann period of CSK by BCCI.
In 90 Tests, he scored 4876 runs, including six centuries and 33 fifties. When he was a wicketkeeper, he has taken a total of 634 catches and has 195 stumpings also CSK have won five IPL titles under his captaincy .
Dhoni was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (2007), the Padma Shri (2009) and the Padma Bhushan (2018) for this contribution to sport. He was also named the ICC ODI Player of the Year for two consecutive years (2008 and 2009) by the Indian Government.
