Delhi government issued a notice on 29th March declaring masks mandatory as covid cases rise rapidly in the city.
Over the past two weeks Delhi government reported a rapid rise in covid-19 cases. As a preventive measure, the government has made wearing face masks in all public places compulsory and a fine of Rs 500 will be charged if violated.
Since April 2022 Delhi had lifted the regulation on charging fines for not wearing masks but within a few weeks, both mask and violation fine were brought back. Still, people became lax in maintaining the proper covid-appropriate behavior in public places. Delhi reported a sharp rise again so on Wednesday the additional district magistrate office in South Delhi issued a notice making wearing masks mandatory and a Rs 500 fine on the violators.
