The Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Jammu conducted a conversation on “Printand Agency Journalism” here on Friday as part of its commitment to giving media students practical exposure through routinely conducting interactive sessions with academic and industry experts.

With regard to “Print and Agency Journalism,” keynote speakers Brajesh Kumar Jha, Chief Editor of the Hindusthan Samachar News Agency, and Ms. Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, gave presentations to the media students on this occasion. Speakers also discussed how they saw the development of digital media, particularly social media, and advised the media students to focus on reporting accuracy and not compromise on the truth.

Earlier in the event, Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Coordinator, Journalism and Media Studies, gave the inaugural speech and discussed how India is evolving and becoming a more powerful country. Speaking on the importance of language journalism and its function in bridging society, Dr. Garima Gupta, Incharge Head of Journalism and Media Studies, also offered her opinions.

Dr. Ravia Gupta delivered the welcoming message, while Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal and Dr. Garima Gupta gave out mementos as tokens of their appreciation. The interaction during the session inspired the students to ask inquiries about potential careers in journalism organisations.
