The Supreme Court declares a purported Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking action to curb deceitful religious conversion in the country in the early hours of Wednesday.

Protracted litigation in the name of combating forcible religious conversion is taking up valuable time of courts.Forceful conversion of religion will not only affect the Union of India but also affect the freedom of religion and conscience of individuals.

No one will buy the claim that the provision enables voluntary conversion. Freedom of religion is protected only when no question is raised and no suspicion is raised merely on the basis of the fact that an inter-religious marriage has taken place.
