The G20 delegates arrived at the Srinagar International Airport on Monday with Jammu and Kashmir authorities in order to welcome the special dignitaries from 4pm after the inaugural ceremony to be held at 3pm.
For these three days summit at Zulfikar Majid from May22-24, Kashmir will be safeguarded by the three tier security grid for aerial surveillance. Drone monitoring will also be held under the authority of National Security Guard(NSG) and commandos of MARCOS. Tightened traffic restrictions are made in the Sk International Convention Centre which is the main venue of the event .
This meeting is regarded as the first major international event to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after the abolition of the Article 370 and Article 35(A) in August 2019. The guests are welcomed by Minister G Kishan Reddy and G20 Sherpa of Srinagar, Amitabh Kant. Programme was showcased displaying Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage.
This meeting is held to discuss the green tourism, skills, digitalization , MSMEs and destination management to strengthen the economic growth and to promote sustainable development in the region.This meeting will thus include the participation of all G20 member countries for the welfare of the region.
