Meta launched a new micro blogging platform yesterday, which is seen as a direct rival to Twitter. It has already crossed the 10 million users mark, despite being out for less than a day only. Threads is seen as a way to communicate with people more directly than through Twitter, which has seen many changes under the ownership of Elon Musk.
Meta Verified is a new subscription bundle that includes account verification with government ID, impersonation protections and account support. We want to make it easier for creators to establish a presence so they can focus on building their communities on Instagram or Facebook. The company owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, among other products and services. Meta is one of the world’s most valuable companies and among the ten largest publicly traded corporations in the United States.Threads is a text-based social messaging app that lets users post short messages that can be shared, liked, and commented upon. The app is built on the Instagram network, meaning users can reuse their Instagram username with few taps. It follows the same people you follow on Instagram automatically.Meta also lets you customize your profile. Earlier this year, Meta said it was working on a text-based platform that would take Twitter, Mastodon, and Blue sky platforms. All of those platforms let users share text, photos, and videos with their followers. The social media giant said that it developed Threads “with tools to enable positive conversations”, and people will be able to manage who is mentioning or replying to them within the app.Twitter’s new platform has stirred up debate among its users. Recently, Twitter made a change which temporarily limited the number of posts users were allowed to see. This caused some users to switch to rival platforms, feeling frustrated.
