On Wednesday PM laid foundation stone of new air base at Dessa, Gujarat, near India- Pakistan border. The new airbase will be very much useful, as after its completion, it will reduce the distance gap of 355 kms between Air Force station in Bhuj and Uttarlai. Modi said, that this airbase will play an important role for the country’s security.
“The international border is just 130 km away. If our forces, especially the Air Force, are in Dessa, will he able to respond in a much better way to any challenge on the western border”,he added.
Dessa air base constitute an area about 4519 acres.Indian Air Force officials claimed that the land was acquired back in 1983. The campus presently acquire 20 watch towers and 22 km boundary wall. According to the source, the construction was aimed to be completed within 2020, among two phases at an approx cost of Rs 980 crore.
PM also launched a new project named ‘Mission Life’ at Kevadia on Thursday and later participated in the 10 th ‘Heads of Missions’.
