A two-day-old baby girl was miraculously recovered alive after she was dropped in a pond in the Khataua village of the Bareilly district on Thursday, one week after a day-old newborn boy was saved after being thrown down a 20-foot deep dry well in UP’s Budaun district.
Police were called after a local resident discovered her in neck-deep water 15 feet from the bank with water hyacinth protecting her head and saving her from drowning. He then fished her out. The infant was brought in by the police to a community health centre in Nawabganj before being sent for a checkup to the district hospital. She was unharmed.
On his approach to his field on Thursday, Vakeel Ahmad, the former leader of Khataua village, hastily called the police and reported that a baby had been discovered in the neighbourhood pond. After that, he saved the baby, and as word got out, many locals came to see the “miracle” in reality. A video of the girl, who was covered in hyacinth, being led outside went viral.
Rajkumar Agarwal, SP (rural), stated, “She fortunately got entangled in water hyacinth which saved her from drowning.” According to authorities, the infant was given to the Child Welfare Committee and placed in a foster home in the city of Bareilly. “We’ll wait for her parents to show up in 72 hours, and if they don’t, we’ll file a complaint in accordance with the law,” Agarwal added. We have named the girl “Ganga,” CWC Chair Dinesh Chandra remarked.
