Hockey, the national sports of our nation is not something that is played in local streets, nor a widely popular sport followed by many unlike cricket and football. But there are some working people in Behala who are not only continuing to keep up with the sport in full pace, but also they are producing and sending quality players regularly from their association named Behala Sports Corner. All this started with late coach Bijay Gopal Adhikary who had the vision to prepare a platform in the city where hockey can breathe. And today, with support of Bengal Hockey Association, a team of 60-70 people are successfully running the club and keeping their mission alive.

Behala Sports Corner indigenously produced players who has played at sr. Nationals like Pankaj Basudev and Puja Srivastav, University level like Dipankar Basudev, Subjuniour level like Suraj Das and many other players are playing at different levels. Archana Tiwari who is also a National Level player and umpire was brought up by this club. They have the infrastructure to provide professional hockey training to anyone who is interested to play the game and take it to the next level, that too free of cost. Their team regularly takes part in the Kolkata Hockey League and other tournaments. Also they arrange for high level tournaments in their ground. Players who are eligible to level up their game are openly selected by the selection committee and senior players during the games.

With the initiative of Dr. Ashok Ghosh and Vivekananda Hospital, any player who gets injured during matches or practice sessions get good treatment and medicines  without any charges from them. And this leaves the players with no excuse to step down and boasts their confidence to make it for themselves and their club.
