In a recent series of attacks across Ukraine, Russia utilised strong weapons, including rare hypersonic missiles, killing at least nine people.
From the early stages of the fight, Russia reportedly did not use any Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, which can elude air defences. The most destructive barrage to strike Ukraine in weeks was the most recent one. Zaporizhzhia, the greatest nuclear power plant in Europe lost power due to the attack, though it was later restored.
Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian ministry of defence, stated on Thursday that “High-precision long-range air, sea, and land-based weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system, hit key elements of Ukraine’s military infrastructure.”
Since the end of January, it was the day when Russia unleashed the most attacks against Ukraine. The Ukrainian military reported that it had successfully destroyed four Shahed drones and 34 cruise missiles of Iranian manufacture. But, it also acknowledged that it had failed to stop the six Kinzhal ballistic missiles, as well as weapons like the Kh-22 anti-ship missile and the S-300 anti-aircraft missile.
A Ukranian spokesperson described it as unprecedented and was quoted saying “This was a major attack and for the first time with so many different types of missiles.”
