Is this the return of the Thunder God? Finally, after weeks of waiting, Thor: Love and Thunder’s first trailer has arrived. There was little doubt that Thor 4 would be an exhilarating ride due to the return of director Taika Waititi and the film’s title. Chris Hemsworth’s post-Avengers: Endgame story has now been revealed to the public.
Even though it was only 90 seconds long, the teaser was jam-packed with information and new images. It was exciting to see the new characters, such as Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor and Russell Crowe’s Zeus, along with old favourites, such as the Avengers and King Valkyrie.
Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film series, and other MCU celebrities have taken to social media to share their reactions to the launch of the Love and Thunder marketing campaign.
Chris Hemsworth shared his own reaction to the Thor: Love and Thunder teaser, promising that “you’ll laugh until you cry, then you’ll laugh until you cry some more!!
Here is the actor’s full tweet:
“Thor Love and Thunder’s first teaser has been released. The atmosphere is reminiscent of an old-school Thor story. It’s a big, loud, crazy, and heartfelt show. These are some of the funniest, most heart-wrenching stories I have ever read! On July 8th, you’ll be greeted with both love and thunder.”
James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, also tweeted the teaser, along with a quote from the trailer that reads, “Look into the eyes of the ones you love.” As of this writing, Gunn is currently filming a third instalment to Guardians of the Galaxy.
A tweet from Taika Waititi, the film’s director and one of the film’s supporting actors, accompanied the teaser:
“Here’s the final cut of the feature film. Eat and savour your food.”
The Thunder of Thor is Finally Here in Thor 4!
Although the Multiverse and the MCU’s ever-expanding freshman class have occupied much of Marvel Phase 4, Thor: Love and Thunder proves that Marvel Studios hasn’t abandoned its remaining OG Avengers at this point.
While Love and Thunder is the fourth Thor movie, it also serves as a prequel to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy threequel, which is scheduled for release in 2023.
Prior to this point, the story surrounding the summer movie’s lack of marketing has centred on its potential impact rather than its lack of marketing, In fact, Love and Thunder broke a Marvel Studios record for the shortest marketing campaign for a Marvel Studios release, which had previously been held by The Incredible Hulk (time between first trailer and release date).
It’s still unclear why Thor, Jane Foster, the Guardians, and Zeus have taken so long to appear on screen. However, Marvel fans can expect even more footage sooner rather than later because the premiere is just over two months away.
