December 7, 2022 : Chinese Spy ship ‘Yuan Wang 5’ known to be carrying satellite tracking devices entered the Indian Ocean through the sunda strait for a likely test firing a long-range ballistic missile in the Bay of Bengal.
Though there is no official comment on the reports of the presence of the spy ship in the Indian Ocean region . India is bolstering defence and securities in the Indian Ocean with like minded countries in the backdrop of concerns over China’s growing foray into the region , considered the backyard of the Indian Navy .The visit had increased concerns over growing forays into the region by Chinese military and research vessels.
Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar said that they kept track and ensured that “they do not undertake any inimicial activities” . open source intelligence expert Damien Synon on Monday Twitted that “Yuan Wang 5, #China’s missile and satellite tracking vessel has entered the # Indian Ocean region .
