According to allegations that circulated on social media on Friday, 60% of flights in China were cancelled amid rumours that Chinese President Xi Jinping was placed under house arrest. However, the Chinese government has not provided any justification in this regard. The Chinese Army General Li Qiaoming is allegedly the next president, according to social media.
Additionally, it was stated in the reports that Beijing had cancelled more than 6,000 domestic and foreign flights. The reports further stated that the high-speed rail has totally stopped operations until further notice and that all ticket sales have been suspended.
The reports surfaced as a result of a video shared on Twitter by Chinese human rights campaigner Jennifer Zeng. A few military vehicles could be seen driving along a road in the footage. The caravan was 80 kilometres long, according to Zeng, and there was talk that Xi Jinping had been placed under house arrest.
Zeng posted the footage and “On September 22, #PLA military vehicles will travel to #Beijing. The procession spans up to 80 KM and begins in Huanlai County, close to Beijing, and ends in Zhangjiakou City, in the province of Hebei. According to rumours, #XIJinping was detained when #CCP top members removed him from his position as leader of the PLA.”
Xi Jinping, who was recently in Samarkand for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO, summit, reportedly lost his position as commander of China’s People’s Liberation Army, or PLA, according to various posts on Twitter.
