A promotion programme for faculty members’ research was started by the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on 30th November.

The Institution of Eminence, BHU’s new programme will offer faculty members who received their first project approval from outside funding organisations some financial assistance. However, they may not have received enough money to purchase the equipment they need. In such cases, these professors will receive funding to cover the cost of the equipment up to Rs 20 lakh or to support the proposed equipment.

Based on the requested and approved amount, recommendations may also be made in some exceptional circumstances for financial support up to Rs 50 lakh.

The Banaras Hindu University Rector will lead the four-person committee that reviews all ideas submitted under this scheme (BHU). Members of the committee include the chairman of the equipment committee and the professor in charge of the sponsored research and industrial consulting cell, while the deputy registrar of the development section serves as the committee’s secretary.
