Israeli President Isaac Herzog became the first to visit Bahrain, on Sunday, on the first trip to the small Gulf kingdom, after the two countries normalised their relations in 2020.
Herzog met with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and crown prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
According to the officials Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the two head discussed issues and ways to encourage communication between the two countries.
In 2020, UAE, Bahrain and Morocco became the first Arab States to normalize relations with Israel. In February 2022, both the countries signed a defense agreement.
Isaac Herzog said that the only answer to hate, threats and terror is alliance with friends and hence he asked more countries to join and strengthen Middle East.
King Hamad said “Bahrain supports achieving a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
Herzog said he would stay in Bahrain and would visit UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
