Hollywood actor, Johnny Depp, spent over $62,000 (roughly Rs 48.1 lakh) at ‘Varanasi’, Birmingham’s largest Indian restaurant, to celebrated his victory in the high profile defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, with his friends on Sunday evening.
Johnny Depp along with 20 of his friends, including guitarist Jeff Beck with whom he has recently declared a new album, went to Varanasi, an Indian restaurant around 7 pm. According to the source, they had a feast of authentic Indian cuisine, rose champagne and cocktails. Mr. Depp visited the restaurant on a short notice and booked the entire restaurant (which can seat 400 people at a time) for them, Operation Director of the restaurant, Mohammed Hussain said. He describe Mr. Depp as “very lovely”, “down to earth” and along with the feast, he had spent time with the staff and their family members as well, as reported by the source. The restaurant made more money from Johnny Depp’s visit than their busiest night of the week, Hussain highlighted. Although, he did not reveal the bill but reported it to be around $62,000 or around Rs 48.1 lakh.
Mr. Depp’s victory dinner celebration was several days after he was awarded compensatory damage of $10 million and punitive damage of $5 million by Virginia court in the libel suit. His ex-wife Amber Heard was also given $2 million as compensatory damage after she was defamed by Mr. Depp’s lawyer.
