On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the contribution of women to India’s development and pledged that his administration would continue to fight to further women’s empowerment. “An appreciation of our Nari Shakti’s accomplishments on International Women’s Day. We adore what women have contributed to India’s advancement” stated Modi in a tweet.

Using the hashtag “Nari Shakti for New India,” he declared, “Our government will continue to work to promote women’s empowerment”. The prime minister also posted on Twitter a compilation of women achievers whose life journeys were documented in ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

On International Women’s Day, President Droupadi Murmu’s piece about the tenacity of Indian women was shared by Modi on Twitter “I read this article on the bus ride home from Tripura, and it was quite inspiring. I would advise everyone to read it.”

He described the president’s piece, “Her Story, My Story – Why I am hopeful about gender justice,” as “a life path of a very remarkable person who devoted her life to service and rose to become India’s President” on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, recalled the wonderful accomplishments of “Nari Shakti” in all spheres of life. “Through its many successful initiatives and programmes, the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is steadfastly striving towards women’s rights”, he claimed.

According to Singh’s tweet, “Indian women are breaking barriers in practically every field in the Military Services, from being operationally deployed in Siachen, the highest battleground in the world, to being posted aboard warships”. “On International Women’s Day, appreciate the efforts and successes of our Nari Shakti,” stated S Jaishankar, minister of external affairs. These contributions are essential to the development of Atmanirbhar Bharat, he claimed.
