In a recent interview to promote the re release of Avatar 1 globally and in turn hype up the audience for the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water, lead actor Sam Worthington looked back describing his initial reaction and apprehension to Cameron’s Avatar(2009).
Worthington recalls an earlier conversation he had with Cameron during Avatar, he recalled James(Cameron) assuring him that even though special effects and vfx play a key part, it wouldn’t hamper the actors’ performance. The superior technology would in fact enable the production to even record the subtlety and nuances of the act better. Pointing out that Cameron had described the make up and pre-scene preparations as the next level of make up.
“It was the truth. And that was the promise that he made me, and that’s what came out. That detail of our acting wouldn’t be overshadowed. It was just there. And that’s the essence that I saw,” said Worthington.
Set in the year 2154, Avatar explored how humans establish a colony on Pandora, populated by lush green forests, huge beasts and its native community Na’vi.
The film, now remastered in 4K High Dynamic Range format, will be rereleased in English in India on September 23 by 20th Century Studios India. It arrives three months before its much anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water.
