G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant interacted with other Sherpas of all the Emerging Market Economies (EME) on the first Sherpa meeting of the Indian Presidency held on 5th December.

Amitabh Kant discussed about the advancement of the Global South followed by issues of mutual interest and accelerated growth. He held a productive discussion with the Sherpas Troika comprising India, Brazil and Indonesia.

On a tweet, Amitabh Kant said “as a member of troika, we will work together to forward India’s priorities.”

Again India’s G20 handle tweeted – “Negotiations at Sherpa-level meetings eventually form the basis of the Leader’s declaration.”

G20 or Group of Twenty is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed economies and as India takes over the Presidency amid the global crisis, Amitabh Kant described this as an “opportunity” and ensures that India will do everything to be positive and forward-looking.
