The district administration of Ramban has taken the initiative to establish free medical camps along National Highway 44, covering the stretch from Nashri to Banihal, to cater to the needs of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims.

With a total of 19 medical camps set up in various locations, including Langars (communal free kitchens), Yatri Niwas, and other accommodations, the Yatris have easy access to healthcare facilities. Dr. Opinder Singh, the Nodal Officer for Health, confirmed the availability of services such as free medicines, ambulance service, and testing facilities round the clock.

“Our medical staff is available in every Langer to provide round-the-clock medical facilities to the Yatris. In case of serious cases, patients are referred to the district hospital in Ramban,” added Dr. Singh.

The action taken by the administration was highly appreciated by Yatri. Balwinder Singh, a Yatri from Punjab, said, “Everything went perfectly. I had an ear checkup and the medicine was given free. We are satisfied with the treatment we have received.” Camp Director Dr. Sushant Mahajan spoke of the various facilities available at Yatri. “We have set up beds for patients and installed ECG machines. All yatris are provided with free medicines,” he said.

The annual Amarnath Yatra started on July 1st when the first group of pilgrims set out from Baltal Base Camp at Ganderbal in Jammu Kashmir to Amarnath Cave. This 62-day pilgrimage ends on August 31st.
