CID sources claim that Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anwar was staying at a residence in Kolkata that was rented to his friend, an Awami League MP and US citizen, Akhtaruzzaman. The said friend hired people to carry out Anwarul’s murder and one suspect who was involved in the killing has identified himself as Jihad Hawladar. It has come to light that butcher by profession, Hawladar was a resident of Barakpur in Bangladesh’s Khulna district and was staying in Mumbai illegally.
Hawladar claims that he was paid a handsome amount of rupees 5 crores to kill the MP. He along with four other Bangladeshi nationals having killed Anwar by smothering then skinned the entire body and minced the flesh to destroy his identity, CID sources said. Using different modes of transport the killers disposed off the body parts in different parts of Kolkata.
Anwar had arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment. A family friend, Gopal Biswas, a resident of Baranagar in North Kolkata initially hosted the MP. The next day, on May 13 Anwar left Biswas’s home to visit a doctor. Not being able to reach out to Anwar since may 17, Biswas filed a missing complaint a day later.
Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said the three time MP, Anwar went missing from Kolkata on May 13 and was murdered. Furthermore, while the body is yet to be recovered three arrests have been made so far in connection to the crime.
