PM Narendra Modi on Sunday, declared about the launching of 75 digital banking units to the nation. Commemorating 75th independence of India, the new initiative was taken by PM along with Finance Minister Sitaraman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
In virtual meeting PM Modi pleaded
“As our country witnesses the success of another digital milestone today, I congratulate the collective efforts of our countrymen. These Digital Banking Units will empower digital services and provide a robust digital banking infrastructure for the country.”
Finance Minister in her 2022-23 budget announced that the government would set up 75 DBUs in 75 Districts of the country. The aim of this project is to provide maximum service with minimum infrastructure. This project simplify the process of payment for the farmers. To empower the common citizens this initiative was taken.
In the country, more than 99 percent of villages had bank accounts, banking branch and banking Mitra within 5km range, PM said. Near aboutd 25 lakh crore have been transferred to the people via DBT. The next installment was transferred to the farmers on Monday as per assurance of Narendra Modi. PM also urged the bank accounts to connect 100 merchants with them to make the digital system totally valuable.
