Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the second installment of the popular 2007 horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which starred Akshay Kumar as a psychiatrist. Shiney Ahuja featured as his friend and Vidya Balan played a character with split personality. She was critically acclaimed for her portrayal as Manjulika/ Avni. The film also featured Amisha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Vikram Gokhale and Manoj Joshi while Rajpal Yadav, the only actor remains a constant in both the films as he reprises his role of Chhote Pandit.

Hours before the trailer release, the new Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 poster introduced us to the extended star cast. Sanjay Mishra was seen with long white hair as he was seen standing in a dhoti-kurta on the right side of the poster. Tabu was seen in a green saree while Kiara was in a lehenga choli. Kartik struck his trademark pose while sitting on a chair, dressed in black costume. The poster also shows a man dressed as a king in a sherwani and turban, sporting a long white beard. Another is seen in a suit and turban, while jumping up in the air.

The trailer that released on Tuesday, 26 April showed all from Kartik and Kiara’s love story in the film to the return of Manjulika after 15 years. As Kartik Aaryan steps into the shoes of Akshay Kumar, a fresh dose of horror and comedy is expected from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The trailer begins with a haunting track and a warning from Tabu that Manjulika is back after 15 years and she is scarier than ever. Tabu herself is in a mysterious role. This time, instead of Vidya Balan, Manjulika’s spirit takes up Kiara Advani’s body. A party montage and Hare Krishna Hare Ram track later, we meet Kartik Aaryan, who claims that he can see dead people. Love blossoms between Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani and thus begins the (mis) adventures of Kartik, Tabu and Kiara, who are trapped in a haunted haveli. Kartik Aaryan’s quest to find Manjulika begins with more than a little help from Rajpal Yadav and his epic one-liners. Not everyone is ready to fight the spirit, especially Kartik.

The film also stars Amar Upadhyay, Milind Gunaji and Rajesh Kumar in pivotal roles. While the original horror-comedy was directed by Priyadarshan the sequel is directed by Anees Bazmee. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Anjum Khetani, and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series and Cine 1 Studios, the film is scheduled to hit the screens on May 20, 2022.
