The Gujarati film, Chhello Show, titled Last Film Show in English has been shortlisted as India’s doorway to it’s 95th Academy Awards, further the Film Federation of India has claimed it to be India’s official entry to the Oscars 2023.
The movie has surpassed SS Rajamouli-directorial RRR, Anupam Kher-starrer The Kashmir Files and Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra and has been selected in the Best International Feature Film category. The film directed by Pan Nalin and featuring Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta in significant roles, is a coming-of-age drama of a 9-year-old boy who lives in a village in India and his passion in cinema. Moreover, this is inspired by Nalin’s memories of her in passion in movies as a child. “I could have never imagined such a day would come and bring light and celebration of light. ‘Chhello Show’ has been enjoying love from around the world but there was an ache in my heart that how do I make India discover it? Now I can breathe again and believe in cinema that entertains, inspires and enlightens! Thank you FFI, Thank you Jury”, said Nalin reacting on Oscars 2023 nomination.
The producer of the film Siddharth Roy Kapur also felt thrilled and honored and said was a pride moment for them to represent India with this film.
