After being defeated in the group league by Nepal with a score of 1 over 3, India roared back at the SAFF U-17 to showcase a clinical performance. The boys retained the championship title in Colombo with a crushing score of 4-0 against Nepal.
The star performers of the match were Boby Singh, Korou Singh, skipper Vanlalpeka Guite and Aman, each contributing with a goal to the accumulated score of 4.
India took the lead from the beginning, and managed to hook a goal in the early 18th minute by Boby. The second goal made the Nepal team worried and led to a surge of urgency among the team. The match became further intense when the Nepal captain, Prashant Laksham elbowed Danny Laishram, resulting in the straightaway red card by the referee.
The next half of the match recorded the goal of the skipper and at the finalth hour Aman, the second half substitute stacked up another goal for the team. With this final goal India finally defended its title in the tournament. Moreover, the Indian skipper was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, and goalkeeper Sahil was awarded the Best Goalkeeper award.
