Satwinder Singh a 28 year old Indian student studying in Conestoga college was on the clock at MK Auto Repairs for his part time gig when he was brutally shot last Monday(September 12 2022) and was later transported to The Hamilton General Hospital where he was ultimately taken off life support on early Monday in the presence of his family and friends beside him.
The heinous incident also claimed the lives of Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong, 48, and Shakeel Ashraf (38) a mechanic who owned MK Auto Repairs. The incident is said to have started around 2:00 PM in Mississauga when the gunman 40 year old Sean Petrie; a former employee at MK Auto Repairs had unprovokedly attacked Constable Andrew Hong when the latter was at lunch at a nearby Tim Horton’s, shooting and killing him in cold blood and then repeating the same to Satwinder and his boss Ashraf. Petrie was ultimately shot dead by the Police in Hamilton.
When approached at their relative’s place in Oakville, Singh’s father who works as a driver in Dubai was absolutely devastated at the untimely demise of his young son and unable to make a statement. Singh’s cousin Sarobjit Kaur who grew up with Singh told The Toronto Star newspaper that the decision to put Singh off life support was given by Singh’s father on Saturday, after authorities declared Satwinder as brain dead.
A GoFundMe page that had been started to support Singh and his family broke the news of Singh’s death, describing Singh as a loving son, brother and grandson who will be missed daily.” He had a passion for reading and writing poetry. The GoFundMe had raised more than 35,000 dollars to help support Singh’s family and for his body to be sent to India for the final rites.
