India’s first underwater metro routing the east-west corridor is ready to launch in the month of December.The metro line will cover a distance of about 16.67 km including 10 stations among those 2 being underground. This underwater metro will be the first metro in India to upgrade the transportation specially in Kolkata.
The under water stations are located under the Hoogly river which is regarded as the most busiest river in Kolkata and one of the most engaged river in India .
The construction unit started to construct this East- West metro since the year 2009 and now finally it has come to its completion leading to its final launch in December,2023. It is expected to strive a major impact in the public transportation in Kolkata. This will result and aims to reduce the traffic congestion and also the air pollution caused by the smokes of vehicles on the roads. It will also help the people to avail the distance between Kolkata and Howrah fast and that too in a suitable transportation process.
It is regarded as the major infrastructure project in India and is also expected to boost up or improve the economic conditions of the state of West Bengal. The final launch of the East – West metro is like a milestone achievement for the people of West Bengal.This will symbolize the growing advancement of the country in technology and will also lay a commitment to the public for their better infrastructure in their best possible way.
