CBI custody of Manish Sisodia, the deputy CM of Delhi, has been increased by two days until Monday, for a suspected excise policy scam by a city court on Saturday. The court also stated that Sisodia’s bail plea hearing would take place on March 10.
After eight hours of questioning, Sisodia was detained by the CBI late Sunday night in connection with the suspected Delhi liquor policy scam. Sisodia filed a bail petition to a Delhi court on Friday. Upon hearing the case, the judge at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court ordered, “Let the bail application be taken up on March 10 at 2 pm.” The CBI is also expected to submit a response to Manish Sisodia’s bail request on that very date.
Sisodia was detained for criminal conspiracy and intent to defraud under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Criminal Code (IPC), according to sources. Sisodia in his bail application claimed that being held in custody would be futile since all of the recoveries had already been made. Sisodia also stated in his bail request that he would show up before the central investigation agency whenever he will be called.
After Sisodia’s five days in CBI detention are over, he is supposed to appear before the judge on Saturday.
