The Food and Nutrition department of Behala College had organised food festival on 19th of April from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm .
The food fest was organised at the top floor of the college campus . It was indeed a great initiative by the college . The environment was well decorated with charts and different sections of food . It was known from the students that the main objective behind the event was to provide healthy and tasty delicacies at affordable rates . The menu contained unique foods of which the beverage section contained “Aam Panna “, “Masala Shikanji” , “Watermelon juice” , “Plain lassi” and “Mango lassi” . The main course zone displayed items such as “Fried Chicken” , “Chicken Patisapta” , “Dahi Vada” and “Galauti Kabab with Paratha” .
Apart from this there was also a dessert and Squash quarter which had set out food which we usually see at big restaurants , to name them some were “Chocolate Jar Cake” , “Rosomalai” , “Mango Jar Cake” , “Orange Squash” , “Mango Jam” and ” Choco Bomb” . The price of each item ranges between Rs. 15 to Rs. 50 . According to the Head of the Department there estimated earning would be around 15000 of which there budget was 12000 which will increase in upcoming years.
In an interview with the students of the organizing department, the students said that they had started preparing for the fest a month before conducting it . They started shopping two weeks before the event and prepared the food from home so that they can display them timely . The Head of the Department expressed her excitement and happiness by saying that ” I am very happy and excited at making the event a success . My students are the ones to be acknowledged the most for I only gave the instructions and the students worked day and night to bring the event at this point “. She also added “We usually see this type of event taking place in western countries or private colleges but organising it by a government college was indeed extraordinary “.
As per sources it had been brought to light that next year the food fest by Behala College might be organized in collaboration with different colleges to draw it to a bigger platform . The visitors having food at the stalls said that the food and cost ratio was well maintained and if they were to rate the food quality, price, and arrangement of the event as a whole they were to give an 8 out of 10.
