The sale of the anti-tipu book is halted by the court.

In response to a petition submitted by the previous Chairman of the District Waqf Board Committee, the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bangalore postponed the distribution and sale of a book about Tipu Sultan on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. According to the petition, the book spreads false information about Tipu Sultan, the Muslim tyrant who ruled the former region of Mysore in the eighteenth century.
The book “Tipu Nija Kanasugalu”, written by Rangayana director Addanda C. Cariappa, is not permitted to be sold by the author, publisher Ayodhya Publication, or printer until December 3.

Notably, the lawsuit was brought by former District Waqf Board Committee Chairman BS Rafiulla, who claimed that the book contains false material about Tipu Sultan that lacks any historical support or reason. Additionally, he asserted that the word “turukaru,” which is used in the novel, is derogatory toward Muslims. He asserted that the book’s release will destabilise society and upend peace in the community.
The author of the book, the petitioner further argued, should have cited his sources. The author of the book’s foreword and the book’s author, according to the petitioner, assert that the information in the book is true and based on authentic history, but this assertion is false.
