The first edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference 2023 got begun aboard INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier. The conference allows Naval Commanders to discuss critical security issues at the military-strategic level as well as interact with senior government officials.
The Commanders’ Conference is taking place at sea for the first time, aboard the INS Vikrant. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Naval Commanders aboard the INS Vikrant on the first day of the exercise. The Chief of Defence Staff, as well as the Chiefs of the Indian Army and Air Force, would meet with the Naval Commanders in the following days. The Chief of Naval Staff will review the Indian Navy’s major operational, materiel, logistics, human resource development, training, and administrative activities over the last six months, along with other Naval Commanders.
They will also discuss future plans for significant activities and initiatives. During the conference, Naval Commanders will also be given an update on the ‘Agnipath Scheme,’ which was applied in the Indian Navy in November of last year. Raksha Mantri highlighted that economic prosperity and security go hand in hand, pointing out that the defence sector has emerged as a major demand creator, boosting the economy and ensuring the country’s development. Mr. Rajnath Singh also highlighted the Navy’s honesty and responsive presence in the Indian Ocean Region. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh highlighted the importance of a large country like India being completely self-sufficient and not relying on others for security.
