Central Forensic Laboratory (CFSL), Kolkata, under the Directorate of Forensics Science Services Ministry of Home Affairs, denied Right to Information(RTI) request of one of the activist of Mission Netaji, Sayak Sen, to share the copy of electropherogram report of the DNA sample of Gumnami Baba which revealed Gumnami Baba was not Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Before the test disclosed the fact, some regarded Netaji to be in disguise of Gumnami Baba.
Although, CFSL agreed that the electropherogram report of Gumnami Baba is in its custody, who died in 1985. Moreover, reasons provided by CFSL for not approving the RTI appeal is national security, trade secrets and third party information, according to sources.
The death of Netaji has been very mysterious. It is believed that on August 18, 1945, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has died in an aircrash in Taiwan although a large section of people claims him to survive in the aircrash and have been hiding from the then British Government. People who believe in the escape theory, presumes that after the incident, Netaji has visited many places in Uttar Pradesh including Naimisharanya (Nimsar), Basti, Ayodhya and Faizabad by changing his identity, as reported by a source.
However, after the death of Gumnami Baba in 1985, the then Central government formed Mukherjee Commission, who was not able to prove that the old sadhu was Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose since the handwriting and DNA tests statements contradicted it.
