On 1 December 2022, India took over the presidency of group of 20(g20) from indonasia at the end of Bali summit. G20 , one of the biggest international forum, consisting of stronghold countries and leading this has paved the way for India to take a stand and display their global political, economic, intellectual leadership , and its powerful strategies for achieving the climate goals set by the Paris accord.
India is rejoicing it’s long awaited moment to chair at the world forum level and put forward its fulfilling policies to secure green investment and shift global governance to the benefit of the “Global south”.
Apart from setting an example for the developing countries, becoming voice to the voiceless, India is focusing on bring their issues in the limelight , especially since many of them do not have representation within the G20.
Currently India is setting up large scale solar power systems at the least cost possible alongside generating a handsome number of green jobs youth who are the future of India. With its policies, advancing pro nature technologies and supply power , India is highly capable to lead the world in the “green zone” .
Be it covid 19 or hardships due the prevailing war between Russia and Ukraine, India has overcome both with maintaining its economic stability at the world stage where the 5th largest economy , Germany is currently facing recession.
The theme identified by India for its presidency is “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” This flows from the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’’ (The World Is One Family) which appears in our ancient scriptures and forms the foundation of our foreign policy. So the saying, ‘unity is diversity ‘ matches India perfectly and the country has reached a position to which the outside world looks up to.
Recently , Finland has set a milestone as its electricity prices went below zero because of abundant supply emission free, hydro electric power which works using renewable resource. Finland is trying to be an carbon free country by 2035 by using wind as the prime source to generate electricity for the country to maintain ecological stability and so as India.
The term ‘LiFe’ (Lifestyle and Environment) has been coined by India which is a behaviour-based movement that draws from the country’s ancient sustainable tradition to nudge markets, to adapt environmentally-conscious practices.
So India is committed and has made a bulge call to the remaining countries to join hands because according to Hindustan “The time has come for the next green revolution”.
