To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the United States’ Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation in India, the US embassy in cooperation with  American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS), and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) amongst others organized a special event, as part of the ‘Documentation Of The Endangered Musical Traditions Of Western Rajasthan’ on December 4th, 2022(Sunday).

The event saw more than a hundred guests experience the  vibrant folk tales and  music through live performances of local and classical Rajasthani singers and musicians including ones from the Langas and Manganiars musicians from Western Rajasthan in Sunder Nursery’s vibrant amphitheater. The event was lauded as a great rendition to emphasize the vision of  The ‘Documentation Of The Endangered Musical Traditions Of Western Rajasthan’ project as it seemed to preserve and celebrate the tradition of ballads called gatha, katha and varta (sung, recited and narrated) by musicians of the Langa and Manganiar communities among others.

The event was helmed by the  Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi as the chief guest received positive feedback from the audience present.
